Hello,

The Kurzweil 1000 and the 3000 both have a list of recommended scanners. It
can be found here.
http://www.kurzweiledu.com/downloads_scanners.asp

I have used the Epson Perfection 1660 PhotoU for the past year. It's
excellent, and it scans a Black and white page for approximately 7 seconds.
The latest Fugitsu scanner, I can't remember the model number, with a SCSI
interface is also excellent and give a 4 to 6 second scan time depending on
which type of data is needed, Gray scale, Black and White, or color. It's
excellent. The only drawback, as many newer mother boards do not come with
ISA slots for SCSI cards.
