Yep.  We found the same rationale on our trips to Fla. Two hours down and
two hours back sure beats two day down and two days back.  Like you said,
when you add up the cost of a couple hotel nights, meals and gas, you can
still come out ahead if you can find cheap airfare.

Midwest Express is a fun airline to fly.  Last time Laura and I took a
weekend trip to Chicago, the M. E. plane fare to Midway airport was cheaper
than the cab fare to downtown.  The crew was game for fun.  For example,
instead of walking the snack cart down the aisle, the flight attendants
stood at the front of the plane, asked for a show of hands on who wanted
pretzels or chips and then tossed the snacks to whomever had their hand
raised.  Loads of fun!  Plus, the pilot had wisecracks the whole flight,
like, "I need a dollar from everyone or we are going to make a wheels-up
landing.  Flight attendants: please pass the hats."  Of course, this was
before 9/11.  I doubt they would be as satiric these days.

we are flying a airline called midwest express. got a good fare, so i will
not subject my body to the punishment a drive up would be. last time a made
the trip we ended up spening a night at hotels going and then coming back
and that was 4 years ago. i added up two nights hotel and a few tanks of gas
and compared it to the fare i had quoted. money well spent for the hours
save from behind the wheel.

i'll be traveling to milwakee thrurday morning where judy's sister will meet
us and we'll go to northern border area of IL. Judy's family lives in
harvard, il. about 20 miles south of the Wis. iL BORDER. we will visit her
94 year old grandmother ans some of my in-laws. hopfully i'll remember to
set myself to no mail. i'll leave thurs.  morn and return the following
tues, i sould get a post in on wed. morning.
