My first Novice rig was a Harvey-Wells Bandmaster (TBS50D). It didn't
work well with the antenna I had so spent most of my Novice career
(one-year, nonrenewable then) on two-meter a.m. with that Communicator 2B
I was talking about. Once I passed my General, used a National NC-300
receiver and a DX-100 transmitter. I agree with Dave; that DX-100 had
*wonderful* audio. If anyone wants to hear what one sounded like, I can
mail him/her a "Communications World" (Voice of america's program on the
media) featuring a bunch of a.m.-ers in the DC area who carry on on 75
meters.
