In additional to Mark's post, I too agree that this looks like a driver
problem. However, I've heard (but never seen one myself - one of my customer
told me he had a record long boot time of 40 mins on one of his win2k
server) that it is possible for win2k to take very long time to boot/shut
down in certain network environment (more likely to do with both SCSI and
networking). I've seen sometimes machines to take 2 mins to boot with
network connected, but never 10 mins long.
