Sharing is enabled on both machines.
The connection is CAT 5 cross wired cable direct from one computers' 100Mb/s NIC to the other. I gifted the cable which use to be on my own network before I got myself a hub and I had no trouble sharing a 810C printer between a win 98 and a Win2K machine. Both machines report a connection speed of 100 mb/s.

She backs data from the XP machine to the 98 without issue and vice versa.

Thanks.
