Yes, if you consider having to repeatedly reset your CMOS a problem. I'm
guessing you didn't power down the computer, then reboot. Do it and you'll
see what I mean! If your machine is powered off for any length of time, it's
going to lose it's settings. The battery is essential to maintaining the
settings in memory.
Hopefully you'll be able to solder or somehow jerryrig some way to attach
battery to your board, otherwise you will eventually be in the market for a
new MOBO.
