Non-IgE-mediated immune reactions are technically called hypersensitivities,
not intolerances, but otherwise have everything in common physiologically with
allergies.

There's a similar distinction between IgE-mediated wheat allergy and IgA and
IgG-mediated reactions, but the latter are indeed what celiac disease or
gluten enteropathy is and what is sometimes referred to as gluten intolerance.

Either way, I want to fight the use of intolerance to refer to any immune
system reaction. It's a completely different mechanism and response in the body
than those involved in lactose intolerance, and I feel that it just leads to
confusion.
