> Turned it on this morning and all we got was the sound of the harddrive
and fan running. No bios screen, no nothin'. Going to try changing the vid
card since it starts up first, but seems to me like the chipset or bios is
history. If that's the case, any methods we can use to assure one way or the
other that it's not something else? For the sake of further input, he's
running Win98SE, and Linux v7.0.


If you are hearing the hard drive run up and the fan most likely it is a
video card problem. If it is not built into the MB check to see if it loose.
If it isn't lose it may be bad. If it is built into the MB you may have to
replace the MB. If the BIOS was history you probably wouldn't even hear the
hard drive run up. Also as silly as this sounds check your monitor and it's
connections if you have another monitor try that one. Could be a monitor
issue.
