If you have a manual for it see if there is a pinhole in the back of the
drive case that will release it by sticking a paper click or thin wire in
the hole.  Zip drives have such a release.  If not, there are a million ways
to open it up, but not many of them are likely to make it any more operable.
If you have the skills, try just taking the case off.  If the drive is
garbage, who cares how you get it open.

Is there a way to remove a CD from a CD-ROM that cannot be operated?
