My personal opinion is that one should always eat that way. While most
folks seem to need to go through a stage of eating more rigidly so they can
get back in touch with their bodies (me, included!), ultimately what works
best for each person and each situation varies.

If I were in your shoes, I'd spend the time between now and then paying
particular attention to my food--what I want, how I want it, how it makes
me feel, if it tasted the way I thought it would when I first decided I
wanted it, learn the difference of what's enough and what's going beyond
that--I'd try to fine-tune my awareness of what I want and why and learn
what I need and how it makes me feel... that way, I'd be better prepared
to figure out which of the available food choices at any given time would
most meet my needs at that time--and how much I need at any given time.

If you make a point to become attuned to your needs like that, you should
have little to no problem--one of our survival mechanisms is an ability to
adapt--especially for the short term--to an incredibly vaste range of
conditions. Pay attention to, be honest with, and trust yourself :)

That's my opinion--and to some degree, my experience, as well.
