The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking applications for the
position of Associate Information Processing Consultant, a 100% academic
staff appointment.  Benefits include 22 vacation days, sick leave, group
health and life insurance and state retirement plan.  Full-time salary is
$33,900.

Degree and Area of Specialization: BA/BS

Required:  Demonstrated knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating
systems; good oral and written communications
skills.  Desired:  Demonstrated experience in supporting workstations and
network infrastructures; knowledge of LINUX or other UNIX implementations;
strong command of HTML or other markup languages.

Principal Duties:  The Consultant will be part of the College Library
Computer and Media Center (CMC), reporting to the Manager of Computer
Services.  The Consultant will work closely with all levels of library
staff, library users including faculty, researchers, students and the
general public.

The individual chosen for this position will install and support the CMC
and the New Media Center workstations.  The Consultant will assist with
maintenance of the College Library network and participate in evaluation of
new LAN hardware and software.  This position also assists with the
hardware and software maintenance on staff and computer lab workstations.

The Consultant will be the primary technical support for the College
Library web server, including evaluating, installing and maintaining web
server hardware and software.  The position will perform global web site
maintenance, prepare and maintain templates and stylesheets and oversee
implementation of web site design changes based on the recommendations of
the Web Design Committee.  The Consultant will investigate and introduce
new Web technologies and support the staff in developing uses for those
technologies.

The Consultant will be expected to participate fully in library and
campus-wide activities.
