Hey all,

A list member recommended Govinda's Bliss Bars, and i managed to find
them in a store that is only 30 miles away. I went to get some, and
there were about four there. Each label had the ingredient 'amaranth'.
According to something I got from CSA, amaranth causes reaction in
30-40% of celiacs.

The ones carried at this store included Macadamia Madness, Pumpkin
Pleasures, Sesame Sensation, and Cosmic Combo.

My question is, does Amaranth contain gliadin or prolamin? Has anyone
researched this? Are we reacting to some other poison produced in the
plant with our celiac symptoms? Is reaction the ONLY way to know if
gliadin or prolamin are in a substance? Is there no research money to
do chemical tests for the substance?

Ok, that was a lot of questions...but it comes down to, can i eat these
things? Are there bliss bars that don't contain amaranth? I did some
research on the grain and it sounds more like rice or corn than like
wheat...physically.
