Just read a brief input from one of the members of this board that said
that her husband suspected that his routine colonoscopy may have triggered
his Celiac. I have wondered about this also, but never mentioned it to my
Gastro. Dr. because I thought it just my imagination. But the timing is
uncanny. I had no real symptoms until my routine colonoscopy for my 50th
birthday. Not long after, I started to feel weakness, had bouts with
excruciating upper stomach pain (exactly like I felt during the procedure)
and cramps after eating heavy meals and finally being diagnosed with acute
iron deficiency. That was four years ago and last year, I was finally
diagnosed via blood test and biopsy as Celiac. I'm still down around 20
lbs, but leveled off (pretty skinny).
Energy level is up and down like a roller-coaster.
(I'm sure the stock market isn't helping)
Trying as best I can to stay on strick diet.
Has anyone else suspected that colonoscopy or surgery triggered Celiac?
Bob
