I've been reading some info regarding Mauro Di
Pasquale's Anabolic Diet. His take on this is that
there are two types of metabolism: "sugar burner" and
"fat burner" (not his words, but close enough). He
believes his version of calorie cycling (low carb/high
fat during the week, high carb on the weekends) can
change the metabolism from sugar burning to fat
burning. From his description I would guess that
Philip has become a "fat burner".

I posted the following link previously for the
original ABCDE article:

Here is another link with an "updated version" of the
diet (from another writer):

Along the same lines (calorie cycling) are the
following links:

The last one is another program from Mauro Di Pasquale
called the Metabolic Diet. I'm not at all familiar
with it.

Personally, from what I've read so far, the Anabolic
Diet information makes the most sense. I'm not sure if
I believe the 2 week cyling window as presented in the
ABCDE diet.
