I'm so sorry this is so long overdue...

My original question was asking what to do with 12 extra pounds of Rice
Polish that I received in the mail by mistake. (not sure whether it was
mine or theirs, but anyway)...

Here are the suggestions that I received....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love rice polish! I add it in small amounts to all my breads. It has
lots of B vitamins. It is necessary to keep it in the freezer because of
its oil content which could become rancid at room temperature. Enjoy the
mistake!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't help you with recipes much but I keep all my flour in the
freezer. I think you can use rice polish like rice bran in your recipes
for added fiber.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use it as an extender...in meatballs, as a breading etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was good GF flour mix posted on this list a couple of years ago
that included some rice polish

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you find out what to do with them, please let me know. I also have
an over abundance!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

One thought - you might give 10 or 11 boxes to your local celiac support
group (tax write off) and they could give it or sell it to some needy
celiacs.....

I'd freeze it to keep it fresh. Think it's the outer coating of the
rice so it would be good fiber and you could add a little in any recipe
that calls for flour or sprinkle it on cereal.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rice polish is similar to rice bran only finer. Keep it in the freezer
to keep the fats from getting rancid. Put about a Tbs. in the bottom of
the measuing cup for each cup of flour used. It hold moisture in g.f.
baked goods and adds a bit of fiber to the diet as well. At least you
didn't get 12 boxes of rice brans which would be harder to use up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't know what to do with it, but it will keep fine in the freezer....
I've kept flours in the freezer literally for years! Also nuts and
seeds.
