Linux installs by default a boot loader manager called LILO, this is
not removed by a reformat. In order to get rid of it boot with a DOS floppy
and issue the following command:
fdisk /mbr
This will rewrite the master boot record and get rid of LILO. Also make sure
you have set the partition as active. TTYL
