Hello people.

I've been on the list for some time but mostly lurking. Now I need your
advice.

I have a 2y4m daughter who is allergic to diary protein.

We used to live in Israel so getting diary free food was very easy. Almost
everything there is kosher so we used common sense or checked for "parve"
labeling when in doubt.

5 days ago we moved to Toronto. First surprise - an omelet with pieces of
hot-dog caused Maayan to break in hives. I checked the ingredients on the
package and sure enough it said "milk ingredients". Welcome to Canada...

OK, I'll be a good father from now on and will check everything. However,
I'd appreciate any advice that will make it easier and/or safer.

First, what are the dangerous ingredients? I know that "casein" and "whey"
are out. Anything else?

Second, what do I do when we decide to send her to
daycare/kindergarten/whatever? I'm afraid they will not invest too much
effort in giving her "safe" food.

More questions will surely come later.

Thanxalot!
Alex.
