I would like to caution the members on this list against believing
everything that a Medical Doctor will advise you to do. Maybe I'm just one
of those unlucky individuals who always seems to be in the wrong place at
the wrong time, I don't know. Being heavily involved in activities such as
boxing, Kung Fu, weightlifting, and some very strenuous Military activities
I've seen my share of doctors. I've also had more than my fair share of
hospital visits both voluntary and emergency care. You may remember my post
about my tumors and the phenomenon that they seem to be shrinking due to the
change to a Paleo style diet. A brilliant M.D. originally told me that they
weren't tumors at all, just ribs that were sticking out. I shouldn't worry
about them unless I wanted the ribs removed because of cosmetic reasons.
This was after he had looked at a series of X-rays, poked and prodded for
hours, etc. About one year later, I visited another M.D. for Sinus trouble I
was having, when I took my shirt off for him to listen to my lungs, he
questioned the "ribs". I told him of his partner's diagnosis, he was
suspicious and decided he wanted to look at a few X-rays. So, my Sinus
doctor had me run the circuit of X-rays again this time he declares them
tumors and schedules surgery right away. If I had waited much longer, at the
rate that the tumor was growing, it would have grown into my lung in no
time. As it was, they had to deflate my lung just to get the thing out.

That's just one of my less than stellar experience with an M.D. I could list
a dozen other misdiagnosis and bad advice I've personally received, my wife
has received, my parents, friends, etc. I've had relatives die from dug
interactions that the M.D. prescribed to them, knowing full well what
medications they were already taking. Then, to sweeten the pot, my wife is a
pharmacy technician for a large chain of hospitals. I won't bother listing
the numerous horror stories of blatant malpractice that the nurses tell her
about. Or the numerous times my wife has had to refuse to fill a script
because she recognized the deadly combination of certain drugs. She's saved
many a patient from certain death. It just seems odd that Chiropractors have
to spend more time in school, learning more than a "recognized" M.D. Maybe
it's just odd to me.

Since adopting a healthier lifestyle I'm setting new personal records in
the gym almost regularly. Since becoming a Paleo eater, my energy has
increased, my body fat is down and my remaining inoperable "ribs" seem to be
going away on their own. I sleep better, and my joint pains that were
supposed to get worse according to my M.D., have practically gone away. And
I've only just begun to eat a Paleo diet, about 4-5 weeks into it. I've
stopped supporting my doctor's expensive lifestyle, I noticed he's driving a
new NSX with personalized plates, I also am aware that he just had a very
expensive house built. Someone must have taken my place and took over his
car and house payments for me. Which is good for me, now I can afford my
meats and vegetables. Thanks to the Internet, I was lucky enough to meet Dr.
Dave. Through his patience, he has helped me to take my health to the next
level. I will always be indebted to him for introducing me to a Paleo diet
and Chiropractic. If he hadn't cared enough about people, he wouldn't have
wasted his time on me. Most M.D. today hardly take the time to examine you
anymore, they're quick with the pen and pad though. Dave has gone above and
beyond to help me at no charge at all. (We live on separate coasts of the
U.S., so Dave didn't offer free service in exchange for my kind words if
that's what you're thinking). I wish my Mom had taken me to a Chiropractor
for my ears when I was a kid, I was constantly plagued with ear aches, each
time I'd go to a doctor and get shots and prescriptions. None of which ever
healed me. Shortly after I'd recover from one ear ache, I'd get another one.
Now I'm practically deaf in one ear, I had to get a waiver just to join the
Army because of the scar tissue built up in my ear. I thank GOD that he
pointed Dr. Dave and me down the same path that would eventually cross.
Thanks Dave, BTW just for the record, Dave didn't always call himself
Doctor, I started calling him Dr. Dave on another list and it seems that it
just stuck.
