It may actually be illegal to have a green cotton bed.  I believe it is
highly flammable.  You would have to check with the local fire codes or
even the state fire codes.  My son can not sleep on his mattress either
due to allergies. I use a softened plastic mattress cover for him. His
mattress fits inside and is totally covered.  Much safer than something
that can go up in flames in a matter of minutes........
