What did you request of the school/teachers? Did you ask them to have
no milk/dairy around? Sounds like you trained them in the use of the
epi-pen. Maybe the teachers are just afraid, and need a trail run-
confidence builder. Just to show that although it can be serious if
something happens, the vast majority of life doesn't revolve around
food. I would suggest a day or week long trial period with you there
at least the first day to answer any questions that come up. I'd bet
after a week, the teachers and principal would think differently.
Many Catholic schools are traditionalists- in the sense that they're
not used to change or something different. Although you have been
living this for years, the teachers are not familiar with the care
and feeding of a milk- allergic. Possibly they just need a walk-
through. reassure them that you'll be bringing in all the food, or
that you need to check everything that goes into his mouth, that
here's a phone # to call at any time there's a question, etc.  I have
2 children with major food allergies, the son is now 4, but he'll be
almost 6 when starting school, we're debating about our parish
Catholic school, too. Please keep us informed.
