Dr seignalet comment on instincto diet:

The asociality of eating a different diet have not been an issue for me,
may be because i always have been the only instincto around. I go to
restaurant with families or friends, i participate to potlucks, went to
weddings etc... i just bring my food and found no resisance from either
my friends , family, or restaurants staff ( quite the opposite in fact
they often go out of their way to accomadate my needs, bring plates and
forks... )
It is true that on thoses occasions i don't bother smelling my food or
very discretly at a distance). In fact , smelling seems too be of
importance when we start the practice and deal with very
"unbalanced"needs, once we found back a certain balance , not eating
cabbage today is not a big deal i can have it tomorrow or even next
week, the appeal will get even stronger. The purpose of smelling is to
find the best , in most case ,good is good enough anyway.
I understand that when one is unsure about doing out of norm things,
there is a fearfull tendency to get protective of one's behavior and
triggering unconfortable response from the others. But this doesn't need
to be and didn't occur in my experience.
As i said in the french instincto list< feeling alone in the world of
cooking is feeling ALONE and that is all.> If eating differently is not
the "cause" something else will be found ( smoking or dressing
differently for ex).
Now eating in a group of peoples all eating raw has always have been a
reaffirming and enjoyable experience, feel good to be" normal", but
don't make the true sharing by itself.
I can share deeply with my friend while they go crazy on popcorn too.
i just don't need to mimic them for that.
At my 12 steps meeting there is a basket of candies turning around the
table, i gladly participate in the passing on of the basket despite the
fact they know my opinion about candy being not different in purpose
than drinking alcohol . i judge the candy not the personne who prefer
eating them rather than feeling the pain or drinking .
I come from a quite asocial background and am becoming more social and
understanding of others thru the instinctive experience of eating
.Paradoxal no?
I don't feel as paranoiac as i used to when i was eating the normal
french diet!
