Yes, Susan, the body does differentiate between animal and vegetable protein,
the latter being much easier to metabolize.

Also, grains are more difficult than fruits and vegetables for the body to
digest and assimilate, and nuts are as well. The fact that seeds and nuts
combine fat/oils as well as concentrated protein gives the body additional
work to do. Some people are able to tolerate little or no seeds and nuts.
