Peter Brandt suggested review of some Victor Herbert stuff to Jerry Knox.  I
think the intention is to get Jerry to accept that us easy-on-the-meat types
ain't gonna get enough B-12:

Jerry, I'm not at all sure that you've made the point you so forcefully made in
another forum that consumption of ANY commercial milk, eggs, or meat delivers a
mighty blow to the natural human gut-generated B-12 system.  If I understood you
correctly, your belief is that a *true vegan*, with a gut flora unhammered by
antibiotics, easily generates adequate B-12.

Perhaps you can get the List to understand your point by mentioning the millions
of pounds of antibiotics sold to the livestock feed industry each year by the
pharamceutical houses.  BTW, I'm not knocking the sales---they'll got to keep
those sickly animals alive somehow until slaughter time.  Of course, those nasty
Europeans are always bitching that they don't want our tender high-antibiotic
carcasses shipped over there.  Those ingrates: I suppose they would prefer we
just let the poor critters keel over in the confinement factories

And Jerry, as long as you're on the subject, perhaps you can mention that modern
grain hybrids (corn and such) are notorious by stint of being incapable of
picking up cobalt from soils.  Yes, *incapable* and this even in the rare cases
where the grain is grown on decently mineralized soil.  Perhaps you can also
comment if it's true, as I've heard, that cobalt is the heart of the B-12
molecule.

PS: I am not a Herbert fan.  I'm 100% convinced he is a tool, plain and simple,
