Do you have call waiting. If, yes you need to disable it when you go on line.
If you have a portable phone connected to the same phone line, noise going to
it can cause noise on the phone line and therefor disconnect you.

Is it always exactly 10 minutes?

After making sure WORK OF LINE is not checked, log off manually before you get
auto disconnected. Do this several times and see if WORK OF LINE stays enabled.
Even as such, that should not be disconnecting if you are still working and
d/l'ing.

I have an ongoing problem whereby my modem disconnects after 10
minutes. I viewed the modem log and one line shows that the "remote
modem hungup". Also whenever I start my sessions I make sure that the
"work off line" from the file menu
