For me, and I stress "for me" Norton has been increasingly problematic over
the last two or three years. It is so invasive to the system that it can
cause conflicts. Keep in mind that any software can cause conflicts.
I just recently built a new system and when I installed Norton the AV had
problems with my Audigy2 soundcard. for example. Norton was of little help
in that their web site based solutions were of no help and they wanted me to
pay $29 for phone-based support.
I finally settled on Trend Micro's PC-cillin Internet Security. So far it
has worked great, has been much easier on system resources, plus they offer
free phone support.
From what I understand MacAfee is supposed to be good too but I've no
personal experience with it.

Daniel
