The STATUS BAR is a display area only.

If you are seeing http:// links in the status bar, it is because you are
pointing to the linked text in a message.  Do not try to click on the status
bar, it will do nothing.   You need to point to and RIGHT-click on the
linked (underlined) text in the message.  This will display a menu of
options, select (click on) COPY SHORTCUT.  Now you have copied the link
address and can paste it into anything you need..
