First shine a light down the unprinted surface of the CD-ROM disk to
see if it  is perfectly clean. (No dust or fingerprints/scratches. Only rub
very gently from the center to the edges, (not sideways), if cleaning.
You did not mention if you could see this CD-ROM's disk contents
in Explorer.  I would guess maybe not.  Either the CD-ROM drive
or the CD-ROM disk could be marginally defective.
