Greetings all;

    And thanks to both Tony and David I now have both file-sharing and ICS
working. First, I returned the Subnet mask on the router back to
255.255.255.0 (It seems I was mistaken when I thought it best to change it
so as to not conflict with ICS). Then I disabled DHCP on the router (I had
done this in the past). I then re-ran the Network Setup disc created by the
XP Network Setup Wizard on both Win 98 systems. Success!

    It seems that my mistake was not to have returned the Subnet mask to
255.255.255.0, as well as not having run the Network Setup Wizard again
after having disabled DHCP.

    Thanks again.

Bill

 - changed the Subnet mask to 255.255.255.1 (and others)

1. This is not a normal mask value. I believe you want 255.255.255.0.
