May be a coincidence but, upgraded from (MS)Office 97 to Office 2K Pro, and
suddenly my Xerox XJ9C printer doesn't work. "Drivers not installed error".
So removed printer at device manager (it did have the yellow exclamation)
and did a refresh - windows 98se immediately found it- used original disks
with "win95.inf" and the install goes smooth with all files being loaded.
Then a _long_ pause with the hour glass and finally the error message -
"drivers could not be loaded, restart windows and try again". Which of
course doesn't help. I assume it is a communication problem but port seems
fine and windows "sees" the printer with no problems, I have no other way to
test communication between the printer and the computer. Disks have only
been used 3 or 4 times over the 2 years and seem in fine shape.
