The error message you have described is a hardware problem.  More than
likely, the cables (data and/or power) to the disk drives were not plugged
in correctly after she changed the battery.

Tell your friend to open the case and recheck **ALL** the connections --
make sure all cards are plugged in securely and all wires are firmly seated
in their sockets.  Then check everything AGAIN.
