Bob,
I would suspect that you have a heat problem. I had a similar problem and
noticed it occurred more frequently on very warm days and after a long
download. I propped a "Smoke Eater" fan to blow into the grill on the face of
the computer and the problem stopped. Not fancy but it confirmed my suspicions
that heat was causing the tip-switch relay to stick. An interruption in power
and it dropped out, as in reset, a cooling period of 20-30 minutes and it
dropped out, and the addition of more cooling prevented it from sticking.

Check your cooling, clean up the fans, etc, and add more if necessary.
