Actually, "zebra stripes" are probably part of all equines' original
coloration.  Even today, some domestic horses (such as those with the
"dun" gene) have vestigial "zebra stripes" on their legs, and certain
domestic color patterns (Appaloosa, etc.) follow the same patterns on
horses' bodies that stripes do on zebras.

...Just a little horsey trivia...  :-)
