Jean-Louis stated: "Saturated fats are considered atherogenic". Insulin is
also atherogenic.

This is something that Atkins stresses when treating Type II diabetics or
anyone suffering from Syndrome X. He has referred to several studies where
animals have been injected at various sites with insulin. At the injected
sites, atherogenic changes occur. This is why Atkins thinks it's "suicidal"
to treat Type II diabetics with insulin injections, when the disease is a
carbohydrate metabolism problem completely controllable by moderating
carbohydrate intake.

I agree completely with Jean-Luis (thank you for the journal citation) about
the insulin stimulating effects of protein. This, again, is the basis behind
Atkins approach to treating insulin disorder problems. Dietary protein has
only a small effect on insulin levels, fat has no effect, and carbohydrates
effect levels the most.
