*RSF condamne l'arrestation de 15 journalistes *

*Quinze journalistes - dont les correspondants de l’AFP, Reuters et
Al-Arabiya - ont été arrêtés cette semaine par les services de
renseignement et de sécurité soudanais pour avoir couvert des
manifestations liées à la hausse sans précédent des prix du pain. Reporters
sans frontières (RSF) demande aux autorités de relâcher les journalistes et
de cesser toute tentative de restreindre la liberté d’informer. *

Le 16 janvier, au moins treize journalistes ont été arrêtés par les
services de renseignement et de sécurité soudanais (NISS), alors qu’ils
couvraient les manifestations initiées par le Parti communiste

contre la hausse du prix du pain, à Khartoum, selon des sources de RSF. La

“*Le maintien en détention d’au moins huit journalistes est manifestement
arbitraire : RSF appelle à leur libération immédiate*, déclare Christophe
Deloire, secrétaire général de RSF. *Les autorités ont la responsabilité de
garantir la sécurité des journalistes plutôt que de les prendre pour cibles*”.


A ce jour, huit journalistes sont maintenus en détention. Outre les
journalistes de *Reuters* et de l’*AFP*, *Shawky Abdelazim*, éditeur du
quotidien indépendant d’*Al-Youm Al-Tali*, *Imtinan El Radi *du même
journal et *Hayder Ahmed Khair Alla* du quotidien *Al-Jareeda* n’ont
toujours pas été libérés, alors qu’aucune charge n’est pour l’heure retenue

D’après nos informations, *Amal Habani *a été transférée, le 17 janvier, à
la prison pour femmes à Omdourman, sans avoir eu accès à un avocat.

Le Réseau des Journalistes Soudanais (Sudanese Journalists Network) a réagi
en demandant leur libération immédiate et a également condamné
l’interdiction imposée, le 15 janvier, aux éditeurs de journaux de ne
publier aucune information

Le Conseil des droits de l’Homme des Nations unies avait souligné en mars
2014 le rôle essentiel des journalistes dans la couverture de
manifestations.

Le Soudan reste en fin de peloton en conservant la 174ème place sur 180
dans le Classement 2017 de la liberté de la presse établi par RSF.

*RSF condemns arrests of 15 journalists in Sudan*

*After the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) arrested 15
journalists, including AFP, Reuters and BBC reporters, as they covered
protests against unprecedented bread price hikes this week in Sudan,
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) urges the authorities to free those still
held and to end all attempts to restrict the freedom to inform. *

At least 13 journalists were arrested by the NISS on 16 January while
covering demonstrations called by the Communist Party

in Khartoum against the price hikes, according to RSF sources. Most were
freed the same day

“*It is clearly arbitrary to be keeping at least eight journalists in
detention and we call for their immediate release*,” RSF secretary-general
Christophe Deloire said. *"The authorities have a duty to guarantee the
safety of journalists rather than target them*.”

Eight journalists are still detained. As well as the *Reuters* and *AFP*
reporters, those still held include *Shawky Abdelazim*, the publisher of
the independent daily *Al-Youm Al-Tali*, *Imtinan El Radi*, a reporter for
the same newspaper, and *Hayder Ahmed Khair Alla* of the daily *Al-Jareeda*.
None of them has so far been formally charged.

January without being allowed access to a lawyer.

The Sudanese Journalists Network has called for the release of the detained
journalists and has condemned the order issued on 15 January banning
newspaper publishers from reporting anything about the protests and wave of
