DEMBA,

1. PDOIS lost the Wulli East By-election, NOT NADD. There is no NADD. Who're we kidding? Let me explain;
NADD was registered as a political party comprised of PDOIS, UDP, NDAM, ppp. UDP resigned, NDAM is not there, and ppp is sidelined on account of its diminutive size according to PDOIS. Therefore unless an ammended registration is filed with the Electoral Commission to reflect the new composition of NADD and retain the name for PDOIS and ppp, APRC could actually file suit for estoppel of NADD. Word to the wise. APRC will never file such suit because the mirage of a NADD sustains the division of opposition votes, ergo APRC victory.

2. You begin your composition by saying [I absolutely agree, PDOIS has its priorities backward... for some reason this notion that the people will form their own coalition without anyone coordinating it is just absurd if you ask me...] You realize that AGENDA 1444 is presented as a NADD AGENDA. The notion of people forming a coalition as opposed to partners to such coalition is directly from the AGENDA 1444 leaves. The reason I bring this to your attention is because deep down, Demba knows NADD is mirage for PDOIS. Therefore the threshold of intent and structure have deformed NADD as a legal entity. Not to mention synthesis. These significant matters we seem to be glossing over are monumental and together, they form the rubric of the retardant JDAM alludes to.

 3. PDOIS fielded Suwaibou Touray as a PDOIS candidate for the Wulli East By-election. Hon. OJ was under no illusion that ppp was a part of that solo-PDOIS decision. I don't think Hon. OJ or ppp campaigned for Suwaibou in Wulli East, no? That is why when some idiot, I forget who it were, suggested UDP campaign for the PDOIS candidate without being invited by PDOIS to do so, I almost fell out of my chair. I bet you if Hon. OJ had the impression that SUwaibou was a NADD candidate and that ppp was part of some reformed NADD, he would have campaigned for Suwaibou and I am here to tell you that if Suwaibou had the benefit of an Hon. OJ campaign, he would have won that seat handily. I don't know why you guys underestimate Hon. OJ? My Father (Domingo) is aware of Hon. OJ's value even in the rural areas. "NADD" undervalues Hon. OJ at its own sorry peril. If my father were alive, he would give you wise counsel about Hon. OJ.

4. You are looking for an adult and a hero in negotiations that aren't. How about just some honesty and due-diligence. (I know Father Mose hates this word, but I think he's gotten over his trifle tantrums by now). Father Mose, hold your peace, I don't wanna hear it. Just stay away!!!!!

Haruna.

Joe,

I absolutely agree, PDOIS has its priorities backward... for some reason this notion that the people will form their own coalition without anyone coordinating it is just absurd if you ask me... If anyone understands the stakes it should be the people who have been in the front line for over 20 years.... Until you get into a position where you can influence policy and bring the needed change you can make a little headway in a society that cannot separate between who is in control and who decides that control...

I know we are all sorry that Swaibou lost the Wuli East bye-election but there is a lesson to learn that we all know already that without some form of alliance there cannot be any success even at the Parliamentary elections much more the Presidential...

If NADD had won that seat the opposition could have been even more divided because PDOIS will claim agenda 2011 has began to work because "a coalition of the people have emerged" now everyone is looking over their shoulders because NADD lost this seat and if UDP loses the other bye-elections then what??? we are all doomed for any hope...

Somebody need to be the adult and the hero in these negotiations and let the wishes of the people prevail ie an opposition coalition...

Thanks

Demba

Edi, I do not think our positions differ. They both are our problem. All I was saying is, if I write something and want to convince you of it's value, don't you think protocol should dictate that I send you an official copy for your review and for you to give your feedback, or if you also have a document to share it with me so we can have a dialogue. However, if I call my self taking my document to the street, would you not feel slighted that I did not even give you the courtesy with a formal introduction. This is not a vous we are talking about, but a political party. PDOIS knew this, but for whatever reason decided to ignore their political counterparts to going to the street. Now that they went to the streets, did you see thousands of Gambians excited about their document? If they say the people accepted their message, which people and how many? As much as PDOIS loves to talk to the people, all of a sudden you have a document but do not want to sit with the parties who you must ultimately deal with if you think a coalition is our only hope to get rid of our criminal.

Thanks

Joe

I will have to disagree with you to some point Mr. Sambou, because If they did not sell their agenda, we wouldn't have the ability to discuss it here at the first place. secondly, someone have to lead or do something that can be able to close the differences as Darbo came with only UDP lead coalition which as well, was verbally conveyed PDOIS came with agenda 2011. On the other hand, they should both rightfully put their proposal into writing and send a copy to each and every political party well before the media got their hand on them. Besides, the problem here is not the agenda but the power struggle and distrust among the players which is deterring the progress here.

If Darbo wanted to become a president due to the size of his party, He should then take the lead and call the smaller parties and convince them the reason why they will have to trust him in his pursue. To eliminate even one party from the coalition will be a disaster Therefore the acts of foolish pride should take a back seat and all hands should be on the deck to fulfilling people's wish of political Unity. Even in our culture, the big brother is the one to take all the garbage thrown to him in-other to see the family programs in tact. A to be responsible leader should always be in balance and be able to listen to people's worries and head to solve them even if it means loosing his or her quality in the process. In this world one have to be able to give-up on something dear to him/her to become a winner but if you want all you loose all period. Edi

Edi, regarding Agenda 2011, do you agree that the proper thing for PDOIS to have done is to invite the other parties to sell it to them or at least have a dialogiue with them on it. PDOIS instead called themself going to the people to sell it to the people. The question is, what people did they sell it to? Certainly not to the diehards of APRC, UDP, PPP, NDAM, GMC, or Henry's outfit. Unless there is such a thing as Undecideds in Gambian politics, which I highly doubt, the remainder is their PDOIS wagon. Thus, what was the value of that exercise? How can one objectively evaluate the results of that exercise, etc? It is not enough to just say the people receive the message well. PDOIS loosing last week has never stopped them, and certainly UDP is not worried either. We must face reality and move on.

What I cannot understand is the fact that; how can a proposition became a stumbling block before it's initiation? The agendas red in this forum and their intention was for the political leaders to look into them and discourse the viability not for us," the less important decision makers regarding the political forum back home", to just look at it and say ooh no this is wrong and that is not properly elaborated to mandate abandonment. If the primary part worries some quarters, let them write to the author or invite them to elaborate on those factor. However, one part of that agenda cannot be taking as a stumbling block for the unification if the agenda was not tabled for scrutiny by the party leaders. Let us be honest here fellow country men and women, I think as so called Pan Africans, we should always try to accept and encourage our educated ones no matter their political affiliation. However, without too much of wasting our energy, God is showing them what is meant by unity, It was PDOIS last week and they were nastily defeated, and in about two months or so is UDP on the block and we will see what the stumbling block is there then different from unification.
