Demba, Thanks, i know you are well and kicking somewhere out there. First of all let me say that you are not correct in saying that thousands served Jawara. A safe guess on the number of people that can be said served Jawara would best be in the few hundreds. May be even the professor's circle of servants has now out numbered that of the old pa. But essentially, what we are talking about here is not the innocent Jawara or Jammeh supporter some where in Sare Pateh, but those that consciously played their way into the system that has held us hostage for so long. These two groups are quite different from each other.
Your proposition that it is the system that criminalises people does not hold water in the case that you are still struggling to hold on to. No wonder you seem not so keen in equating Dr. Janneh's case to Juwara's. I think you are just caught in a tight situation but it is not too late to admit wrong judgement and carry on. Being in the know now of what Dr. Janneh has written and said in the past, you might also wish to consider that by the time Dr. Janneh returned to professorland he had already acheived a great deal even in American standards not to talk of Gambians standards. The man was already a professor, worked at the American Embassy where as a US citizen he had the oppotunity to make his way up in the foreign service, but no he decided that what the professor oppered was more promissing. But Demba you still want us to take some guess about the Dr. decission that he probably wished good or was on a kind of a subveresive mission. My i also inform
you that i do not know Janneh. I only met him once in his office in Kotu on marketting and journalistic matters.
Demba, you at one hand appear to denounce risk taking but on the other extolling it. Did you realise that? Janneh took a risk and was nabbed and you still want to beleive that it could have succeded by dint of luck. Your synopsis of Janneh being more of a threat to the Jammeh government is a matter of opinion devoid of fact. I will not argue on that. One thing i will tell you though, i haveore regard for Baboucarr Ceesay and Abubacarr Saidykhan when it comes to our struggle than Janneh. You might agree with me that the two youngmen would have face any eventuality without bulging an inch had the state insisted on prosecuting the charges agaisnt them. Unlike the smart Dr. who poses so much threat to the Professor but had the nerve to take to his hills at the Kairaba Avenue junction in full speed headed for the American Embassy only tobe caught by someone a few meters away from the embassy gates after being called sachay, sachay. (thief, thief, thief).
I am also accepting your invitation for debate/discussion on any topic regarding our struggle. Just let me know so we can arrange for the time.
have a good night.
Nyang

Mr. Nyang, good to hear from you again. You don't have to wait too long to hear from Demba as I am here present at all times, alive and well and reading every drop of a pen. I stand by my earlier assertion that our struggle is a messy one and for the most part it is the system that criminalizes people.

And for the record, I don't know Dr. Janneh, never met or spoke to him. I am not a member of CCG either and never have. I have gotten information about them mostly due to my GPU affiliation and close working relationship with Ndey Tapha - who I respect dearly. In fact I wasn't here on the L when he was active on here. Many of us only knew about him after he joined the government.

One thing I know for sure, he appeared to be more of a threat to the Jammeh government than the Halifa's and Darboes and all other opposition we have on the ground. He may have bitten his tongue, swallowed his pride and joined the government he was most critical of, but that was his personal decision and he suffered the consequences. If the Dr. had succeeded in bringing uprising in the Gambia which eventually topples the government most of us here would have celebrated regardless of how he did it.

There is no success with taking risk... and my personal opinion is that the Dr. took risk, had his own plans which we may agree or disagree.

I do not and did not attempt to defend him. What I stated is that we cannot discount all our citizens who one way or another serves or accepts these government. Most of us will disown our own parents who supports this regime day in and day out. Do we dismiss them for doing so? Absolutely not!

The system in the Gambia is what is rotten. Generally our people are decent people and have a lot of humility. They have been forced to live under brutal circumstances. I mean Dr. Janneh is no different from thousands of our fellow citizens who served under the Jawara regime and ran shelter to cuddle with Jammeh despite the humiliation metted on them and their families...

Nyang, my doors are still open and you are cordially invited to an open discussion and bring along anyone you so desire. This can only lead us to a better Gambia...

As for Waa, I personally campaigned for him when he ran for parliamentary seat in Niamina. He made a decision to find a means of survival and he has fallen victim of that... so are hundreds of other Gambians... So I don't have much opinion about his decisions except that I disagree with his decision and so did I with Dr. Janneh's. Got me?... you are always welcome to an open debate...

Demba

Joe, you know am with you on this one. The spirited appeals on behalf of the Dr. especially by my friend Demba irked to say the least. I attempted many a times to jump into the debate but suceeded in restraining my self so as to allow you and others dig deeper into the issue of readmitting to conscienceland, the anointed son of Gunjur or better yet our Mandela.
>When i have the chance i would love to ask Demba between Dr. Janneh and the opposition leaders in the Gambia like Ousainou and Halifa whom he takes liberty at bashing as nonentities, who is more valuable to our struggle for democracy. Dismissing the only allies we have on the ground while trying to build hope on amaturish and adventurist Doctors raises big questions on my friends political astuteness.
>For Uwaa, Yero said something very important to what should inform us on what derives Uwaa's political agenda. The bag of rice thing is in the center of it all. I witnessed this man insisting on beating up someone unless he handed him the sum of money he demanded a couple days before the 2006 election. The gentleman had insisted on Uwaa submitting a budget for his CRR south tour but Uwaa did not want to hear anything like a a budget mentioned.

>Jeh Nyang, I thought you were on my side, no? :-)! I believe you want to give Yero, Demba et al and easy exit, for the Juwara news throws a monkey wrench on their assumptions and all I have to do is to watch the shifting on the seats. Jokes aside, the timing of UWaa's trashing cannot make their position more difficult and is a good contrast. Why do I say that? Well, Uwaa was on this side of the isle and decided to join Yaya for his greed not withstanding the good ole whooping from Yaya and I have written extensively on that. Uwaa has prison badges of his own, and I believe he has more train track designs on his back than Amadou. Uwaa the "King Maker" was also an expert on Jammeh and has said many things about Jammeh, and also the opposition, the last jab being just a couple of weeks ago. So, it would be interesting how our friends will treat Uwaa. Although Uwaa not only broke the bridge when he crossed over, but he burnt and buried the
remains, which makes it very difficult for him to even consider a retreat to this side of the fence. However, that should not be a problem for our kind hearted brothers to consider Uwaa an asset. For my part, consistency and equal treatment for similar circumstances is what is required and this case of Uwaa is a slam dunk. Uwaa, before he runs any where (not that I forsee him doing that) must explain to Gambians why he mortgaged his soul and to also atone for his threacherous behavior. Yeah, fat chance! My friends should not wait for Uwaa to come to them though for they did not wait for Amadou to come to them. If Amadou is an asset, why not Uwaa? The Uwaa case is a litmus test of their standards. I now step aside and let the youngsters as you put it craft cutting edge solutions for the Uwaa dilema.

>Both LJ and Joe have proven to be authorities on matters Dr. Janneh on his past record vis a vis the Jammeh government. When i saw this news of Juwara's sacking my mind went to you and Demba on what LJ alluded to as those to go through for readdmission into Conscienceland. You two gentlemen are so generous for me i am a revolutionary. I do not believe in scraping and pasting, rather total change in ways and means. That is why i will not have much to do with people like Dr. Janneh. The little experience i had with him in his private business office - COMMIT, in Kotu was enough for me to know what timber he is made of. This was in 2009 when he was no longer a minister.

I agree with you that our situation has become so complicated that daily opinions can be just out blank critical. I don't think Juwara will escape Jammeh's long elephant tusk this time around. Since you are an admirer of Che, I am sure you will find his doctrine reasoning with mine.
