Subject: How to take on Jammeh in 2011

Dear All,

The Gambian people are suffering. Cost of living is becoming more unbearable. Unemployment is on the increase. Crime is increasing. The country is now a target for foreign nationals to transist drugs. The eduactional is going downhill. The debt is of the country is on the rise. The economic bae is very fragile and there is almost a zero productive base in the economy of the Gambia. This is very serious. We have a country that is controlled by the same party in all levels of government. The President of The Gambia is almost a monarch.

For the past 16 years there have been several human abuses and deaths including School children and a journalist my best friend Omar Barrow. Several unexplained deaths and disappearance of journalist and some soldiers. Freedom of speech is almost non existent.

Despite all or more of the above, Jammeh has been winning in The Gambian Presidential and General elections. Why is this the case?

The blunt truth is for far too long we have have talking about Jammeh's tribe rather his brute and human rights abuses. We hate him not for his dictatorship but because of his tribe. It is palin truth that most of us look down on the Jola people and there are some of us who cannot come to terms with the fact that we all all equal.

Jammeh knew this and this is why he always play the cry "victim card". He undestands that the moment he mention that the mandinkas think that they own the Gambia all ther tribe will give him his support. He use the divide and rule method to get his wishes.

Jammeh is not alone in this. He has the assisatanc eof dishonest and coward politicians whose selfish interest is more important to them than the interest of the country. These kind of people will do every thing in their disposal to destroy the progress of Gambian enlightenment and they will distort every information that is to benefit the people. These are the real enemies of The Gambia. These are the creatprs of Jammeh and they are his winning machine. Cowards we all know die many a times before their deaths. This is not a cliches but a living truth!. How can a household head run away and leave his family at the mercy of an armed robber and yet expect any dignity left in him? Such people should apologise to the public and hide forever from public life.

The way forward it to take Jammeh on issues only. I bet you if he is tackled on issues, euphoria will die out of politics and sensibility will prevail. Jammeh will loose. But if the hatred of the Jolas is always on the agenda of some opposition leaders then he will continue to win.

Jammeh need to be expose with intellectual maturity and politial accuracy. This will win the confidence of even some of the people who once voted for him. Every one in The Gambia is suffering including those that vote for the APRC. any family that does not a rental property or someone abroad is severely suiffering.

The Gambia belong to all of us and it is high time that political sof tribalism be a thing of the past. this is the way forward. Otherwise another five years of Jammeh and more misery servitude and poverty for the Gambians.

Muhammad Bai Drammeh
