Will Mexico's first-ever female Attorney General be able to break the ice around the five-year old case of rape, assault and brutal treatment of dozens of women?
Ensure that those responsible for crimes of rape are brought to justice in Mexico.

Dear abdoukarim,

Last year we told you that Mexico's Attorney General's office had identified 34 police officers as suspects in the rape, assault and brutal treatment of dozens of women in 2006.

As of this week -- five years later -- none of the accused has been charged with the crime.

President Felipe Calderón recently appointed a new Attorney General in Mexico. She can be the one to get to the bottom of this case. She can help the women of Atenco finally find the justice they have sought for five long years.

Marisela Morales is Mexico's first-ever female Attorney General. Her credentials show her as being tough against organized crime and she is uniquely positioned to shake things up and set a new tone by standing against impunity.

Tell Mexico's new Attorney General that the Women of Atenco deserve justice!

The shocking accounts given by the women themselves speak volumes:

Police detained the women during a local protest in May 2006. Some women who weren't even involved in the demonstrations were swept up in the massive arrests. They were beaten and herded into police vans. On the way to prison, officers took turns sexually assaulting the women.

This kind of crime deserves justice.

Attorney General Morales: Don't let more time slip away without ensuring that those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice.

Justice is close, but we can't let up now!

We appreciate your vigilance.
