Do we have a name problem here?  I just talked to Mary Gunn who has been
using (and grinding her own) garbanzo bean flour for some time with no
problems.  My American Heritage Dictionary defines chick pea as: "1. A bushy
plant, Cicer arietenum, grown in the Mediterranean region and central Asia
and bearing edible seeds."  Garbanzo is another name for chick pea.  I have
never heard of it being toxic (neither have I heard that red kidney beans
are toxic).  Perhaps you & I use the same name to describe totally different
items, a common malady of the English language:-(
