Kemp,
The Sugar busters diet plan works for all type diabetic's. If you are type
one, it lets you cut back on the insulin needed and if type II most of the
time it allows you to discontinue meds. I follow an even stricter plan, Dr.
Bernstein's Diabetes Solution, which allows 6-12-12 grms of carbs for
breakfast, lunch and supper. The Carbs that I do eat are lightly steamed or
raw. I try to eat the same amt of protein at each meal, for a type I that
allows for easy regulation of insulin dosages. Of course not everyone is
willing to do this. I had a Mother and Sister die from complications of type
II diabetes that was not controlled. My Mother because they didn't know any
better then, and my Sister because she chose to dis-regard her diet.
Sorry to be so long but had to answer, the ADA advice to me was 45 grams of
carbs per meal and I had to take medicine with that. Nothing now.
