Ken (and Kraut),
Sinter in English refers to some sort of mineral crud that gets deposited,
and according to my Kraut dictionary, means the same thing.
It just dawns on me (at 8:15 at night) that "sinter" sounds familiar because
it's part of the name of "Sinter Claus" ---- Santa Claus.
