>Mike,

Like I said, it's a good thing. Does this mean I've been wrong to look down
my nose at the $1.99/bottle spring-water straw-users? Will I be better
preserved, or just less painted inside, then they?

Sometimes $1.99 water is just municipal water in a fancy bottle. Other
times the sodium content is astrnomical. Ethanol, by the way, is quite
effective at attacking many kinds of coatings, even including some epoxies.
I never realized that I had done so much paint remover research in college.

And by the way, leaving Scotch for Elijah would be a BIG error. No
fermented
grain stuff that week-- beer either. On the other hand, I've been known to
justify eating pizza becasue it's flat.<

I did a box lunch at a firm in NY last Spring during Passover, and was
impressed by a guy with a yarmulke who brought in matzoh to eat with the
ham sandwiches. I didn't ask.
