It sounds like he had a very full fuel load as well, hence a
very rapid fire spread?
Don't doubt you, I just note that later Piper Cherokees (there are many
variants) seem to have fuel loads < 80 gallons.
WTC Flight 175 was carrying 9100 gallons of fuel. To venture out on
the limb of my own ignorance and get out my chainsaw, I wouldn't have
thought <80 gallons would cause so much apparent damage, but the
observation on the quality of fire department mercy is duly noted.
But, if I haven't mentioned it before, I am a Certified Expert in
uninformed speculation. c
