The village is definitely worth the trip. The surrounding countryside is low
marshy land, with many small streams winding through. Melancholic but
beautiful. The Cohansey River is at the end of Ye Greate Street, the main
drag, where a tea burning took place prior to the Revolution. There are many
18th C houses around the perimeter as well as in town. The town of Othello
(made somewhat famous by Willaim Leastheat Moon) is a few miles away.
Outside of town, at the local marina is a small seafood restaurant called the
Baitbox - the existing one looks somewhat like a "Charthouse" type, seen in
Newport, etc., which replaces the original funky old building which burned
five years ago. The food is ok.
Nearby also is Roadstown, the home of the Ware chairmaking family in the 18th
and 19th C., and Hancock's Bridge, with a few nice examples of glazed diaper
pattern brick houses, whose origins are in Kent, England.
Then there are the greenheads...
Have fun.
