I'm an anti-lignumite.

The portions which are bent, which are the back rails and arms (depending on
chair) are nearly horshoe shapes. The wood is oak which, even green, is tough
to bend, but impossible to keep in the desired shape. I've heard it can just
be soaked, but God knows how long it would take.

How thick are your gunwale pieces?
