Here's a demographic test for the gerontology factor of BP: who here
ever had a phone number that included the exchange name? What was it?
In the days when I spent my free time punching my little brother in the
arm I resided at "Twinbrook 3-" otherwise known as 893-.
dan back when dialing a phone number meant what it said becker
We were VErmont 9 in Culver City, and my father's factory was MAdison 3; my
grandfather's house was REpublic 3. My pediatrician's office in Beverly
Hills had a CRestview number; the oldtimers in Summit, clear across the
country, also had CRestview. This last makes me wonder how consistent the
Phone Company was in awarding exchange names, and how many other wealthy
suburban CRestviews there were.
Now everybody's sorry you asked.
Ralph
