Subject: [BP] subway tile
Refresh my memory - this was a thread a decade ago and I cannot find it in
the archives. Why was the typical tile in the 1910s was the glassy,
translucent stuff you see in the subway and bathrooms, and later tile - post
1940? - is more opaque, ceramic-y, not so translucent?
Something about lead, as I recall. c
