I was taught by grandfather Tom Follett to lick my finger and stick it in the
empty bulb socket in order to determine if the circuit was live or not. Talk
about sharing tricks of the trade. I don't think electricians, or plumbers,
see themselves as involved in historic preservation. Antique wiring, and old
ways of working, should be explored.
I'm curious about safety code issues with antique electric wiring. I suppose
you can have the historic wiring as long as it is not electrified... what sort
of a re-creation is that?
