Kind of reminds me of the time my cousin, zealously, attached the coax to 
the building with a staple gun, except that he put the staples into the coax 
instead of around it. hmm? SWR, indeed!

Hi Guys,
I remember attempting to check the SWR on a 4-band ground mounted vertical.
It wouldn't work.  No band would load.  Then we went outside and attached
the coax to the antenna and all went fine.  Is that something like Murphy's
law?
