Walter:

the mic gain menu on the TMV71A is 111.

Press the function key, and then the tuning knob.  That will get you into 
the menu list.

Turn the tuning knob until you get to menu 111.

Then, press the menu button again, and you can turn the tuning knob to 
select from the three mic gain settings--low, medium, and high.

When done, press the menu button again, followed by the function button to 
save your setting.
